Technical Project Manager (Factory Automation)

Ichor is seeking an experienced and visionary Technical Project Manager - Factory Automation to drive the development and implementation of automation strategies and Industry 4.0 initiatives within our semiconductor equipment manufacturing operations. This role will oversee the design, development, deployment, and optimization of advanced automation solutions to enhance production efficiency, quality, and operational performance. Working closely with cross-functional teams and global manufacturing sites, the role will drive manufacturing innovation, process improvements, and the adoption of advanced technologies to strengthen Ichor's competitiveness in the global semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities:

Automation Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute automation strategies aligned with business objectives and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Identify automation opportunities across manufacturing processes and recommend suitable technical solutions.
• Establish performance metrics and KPIs for the automation initiatives and track ROI.

Industry4.0 & Process Automation

• Lead the digital transformation initiative including IoT integration, real-time data analytics, and connectivity across manufacturing systems
• Design and implement Smart Factory solutions incorporating machine-to-machine (M2M) communication and cloud-based monitoring systems
• Oversee integration of AI, machine learning, and predictive maintenance systems to optimize production efficiency
• Evaluate and deploy robotics, PLCs, SCADA, motion control and other advanced automation technologies.
• Ensure compliance with Industry 4.0 best practices and cybersecurity standards for connected automation systems

Technical Project Management

• Lead automation and capital investment projects, managing budgets, resources, schedules and project delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, equipment vendors and system integrators to implement automation solutions.
• Oversee system commissioning, testing, validation, technical documentation and training.
• Identify project risks and drive timely resolution to ensure successful implementation.

Quality & Safety Assurance

• Ensure all automation systems meet quality standards (ISO 9001, IEC 61508, ISO13849) and safety regulations
• Implement preventive maintenance programs and predictive analytics to minimize downtime
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols for automated manufacturing environments

Requirements 

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation Engineering or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in automation or manufacturing engineering.
• Proven experience in semiconductor, precision manufacturing or capital equipment industries.
• Strong technical knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMI, robotics, servo systems and motion control.
• Experience in Industry 4.0, IoT, smart manufacturing, MES/ERP integration and data analytics.
• Strong technical project management, vendor management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with relevant quality and machinery safety standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 13849 and IEC 61508.
