Senior Python Software Engineer Platform Services - IMMEDIATE HIRING

The client is a Singapore-based data consultancy seeking a hands-on Senior Data Platform Engineer to build and operate large-scale data ingestion and storage services in an on-premise or hybrid environment.

This is a contract role available for immediate hiring. Candidates who can commence at short notice are encouraged to apply. There may be potential for extension or conversion to a permanent position, subject to business requirements and individual performance. The role is based in Singapore. The hiring company is currently located in MacPherson, and work at or travel to client sites may be required. Final work location and arrangements will be confirmed.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a strong Python Software Engineer to build platform services for a modern data platform. This is a contract role for a product-minded backend engineer who enjoys developing reliable services, APIs and reusable software components.

The role focuses on advanced Python, platform engineering and secure access to services. Experience with every listed technology is not expected, but candidates should have a solid record of building and supporting production software.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production Python services, APIs and reusable libraries.
• Develop integrations between platform services and other system components.
• Implement authentication and authorisation using standards such as OAuth2 and OIDC, including role-based access control.
• Support secure identity propagation across services and integrations.
• Package and deploy applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Contribute to testing, documentation, code quality and production support.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in backend software engineering, platform engineering or product engineering.
• Strong hands-on Python experience building production applications, APIs or reusable software components.
• Experience with both Docker and Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of authentication and access-control concepts such as OAuth2, OIDC, JWT or RBAC.
• Able to explain software services or platform components you have personally designed or implemented.
• Comfortable working on a contract basis and attending client locations when required.

Preferred Experience

• Building custom Python libraries or SDKs.
• Implementing identity propagation across distributed systems.
• Developing Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoints.
• Secure software development, automated testing and CI/CD.

This role is suited to a product-minded backend engineer. It is not primarily a data engineering, analytics, business-intelligence or ETL position.
