Role Description & Requirements

Responsible for studying the Texas DPS Commercial Driver Handbook, Vehicle Inspection pre-trip, and other training material, outside of training class, in preparation for the written knowledge tests and road test.
Follows the training requirements to successfully pass up to 5 written knowledge tests to obtain CLP. Must successfully pass the 3-event test: Vehicle Inspection Pre-Trip, Basic Control Skills, and Road Test to obtain CDL
Attends classroom training to obtain Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP), Entry Driver Training Theory, and on-site Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training within the required program deadline. Be alert and prepared at all times with limited noise distractions
Assumes charge of the bus while training behind the wheel, receptive to feedback and guidance, while following directions provided by the Safety and Training Team.
Responsible for all DPS fees involved with upgrading current license to a class B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with P/S (Passenger and School Bus) endorsements
Reports to work on time and is absent only with good cause to ensure timely program completion. Must notify the Safety Team of absences.
Maintains a good working relationship with the Safety Team and Service Center staff, maintaining accessibility and communicating consistently during the program duration.
Attends all required staff developments and completes any required trainings.
Follows the Dallas ISD Driver Code of Conduct, exhibits good judgement in decision-making and problem-solving, works effectively with others, follows the chain of command as noted in organizational policy.
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
